Building a Brand for a Global Diving Community
Branding for a Massachusetts-based diving start-up committed to making scuba diving safer, more accessible, and exciting for all, while fostering a community of passionate divers and adventurers.
The brief.
Diving into the depths of the ocean is more than a sport—it’s an experience of discovery, adventure, and connection with the natural world. For Dave Kahn, founder of Collective Waters, scuba diving is a way of life. What began as a small business selling unique apparel to local divers in Massachusetts has transformed into a mission-driven brand inspiring a global community of ocean explorers and advocates.
We partnered with Dave to create more than just a business—a movement, complete with an engaging brand story, refreshed identity, and captivating visuals that could connect with divers worldwide. To achieve this ambitious new vision, Collective Waters needed a bold, cohesive brand identity that could:

The design solution.
The new brand identity seamlessly combines form and meaning, reflecting the brand’s values of exploration, adventure, and conservation. The logo is made of subtle design elements, like its resemblance to a seashell, highlighting the brand’s commitment to ocean conservation. Additionally, when rotated, the logo resembles both a water droplet and a geolocation pin, symbolizing the brand’s connection to the sea and its focus on innovation and safety.
A mix of deep blues, teals, and vibrant accents captures the allure of the ocean, while adding energy and dynamism to the brand. Custom graphics inspired by underwater landscapes, marine life, and diving gear bring the brand’s story to life across digital platforms, print materials, and merchandise.
